Container House Price Comparison: 7 Checks Before You Order

A low container house price can be attractive, but two quotations may cover very different projects. Before choosing an expandable container house, foldable container house, detachable container house or Apple cabin, compare the same model scope, delivery location and site requirements.

This checklist helps overseas buyers request a clearer proposal and identify costs that need separate confirmation. It does not provide a fixed installed price: your configuration, destination and site determine the quotation.

Request an itemised container house quotation or browse HUAYING model photographs.

1. Identify the exact model and usable layout

Ask for the model reference, external dimensions and dimensioned floor plan. A product name alone does not tell you the bedroom sizes, bathroom arrangement or usable living area. For expandable designs, distinguish transport dimensions from the deployed footprint. For assembly-based designs, ask how the proposed room arrangement is achieved.

Compare the available families: expandable container houses, foldable container houses, detachable container houses and Apple cabins and capsule houses.

2. Get an itemised list of what is included

Ask the supplier to separate the base unit from optional equipment. Confirm the wall and roof materials, insulation specification, doors, windows, flooring, internal partitions and finish. For fitted units, list the kitchen, bathroom, plumbing and electrical items individually.

A photograph may show a configuration different from the quoted unit. Request current photographs or drawings for the proposed model and identify furniture, appliances, decking and other display items that are excluded.

3. Define the delivery scope and destination

Write down the named factory, port or delivery address covered by the quotation. Ask which party arranges each transport stage and request the quoted trade term in writing. A factory price, a port-delivery quotation and a site-delivery quotation should not be compared as though they include the same services.

Confirm the currency, quotation validity and whether freight is included or will be quoted separately. Ask your logistics advisers to review the scope before you use it as a complete project budget.

4. Check packing and unloading before shipment

Request packing dimensions, shipment configuration and the number of units in the proposed load. Ask whether fittings travel inside the unit or separately. Confirm how the shipment is unloaded and what lifting equipment or access is required at the destination.

Give the supplier details of narrow roads, restricted entrances, overhead obstacles or other known site constraints early. Transport planning depends on the actual route and configuration.

5. Separate local costs from the product quotation

Prepare separate lines for destination charges, inland transport, lifting, foundations, installation and utility connections. Ask the appropriate local advisers which other charges apply to your project rather than assuming the supplier quotation covers them.

Use a simple comparison sheet: one column for each supplier and one row for each included item or separately confirmed cost. Mark unknown items as “not confirmed”; do not treat a blank entry as zero.

6. Confirm installation and project documentation

Ask which tasks remain after arrival, who performs them and what installation instructions are available. Request the documentation your project advisers need for the proposed use and location. Have them assess the specific model before purchase; generic marketing descriptions do not establish suitability for your site.

7. Record timing, payment and after-sales terms

Request a written production schedule, shipping assumptions, payment milestones and inspection arrangements. Ask for the warranty scope, exclusions, claim procedure and responsibilities for replacement parts or on-site work. Confirm these against the final order documents.

Send a project brief that gets a useful answer

Include your destination country and city, preferred port, quantity, intended use, bedroom and bathroom requirements, selected product family and target delivery date. Attach a reference layout if you have one. Ask for the model reference, floor plan and itemised proposal together.

Frequently asked questions

Is the lowest factory price the lowest project cost?

It may be, but you cannot establish that from the headline price alone. Compare equivalent configurations, delivery scope and separately confirmed local costs before deciding.

Can I compare different product families using one price?

First compare the floor plan, supplied equipment, shipment configuration and installation tasks. Different product families may suit different project requirements.

What should I send to request an itemised quotation?

Send the destination, quantity, product family, intended use, preferred layout and timing. Specify which drawings and delivery details you need with the proposal.
